A few days ago, news emerged that Ella Purnell would be portraying the character of Rhiannon Lewis—a role in which she finds herself tracking a killer, only to end up committing multiple murders herself.
Recently, the full trailer for Sweetpea Season 2 was released, showcasing Ella Purnell in the role of Rhiannon Lewis. It is a thriller series that follows the transformation of a quiet, unassuming girl into a killer. The story picks up after the lethal events of the Season 1 finale; Rhiannon receives a promotion at her local newspaper, but simultaneously finds herself confronted by a serial killer who is committing numerous murders and threatening to expose her.
As Rhiannon becomes increasingly entangled in these killings, the list of potential targets—or those she might hunt—continues to grow. She is left questioning whether her boyfriend, AJ, was right all along: the killer is, in truth, a monster.
Ella Purnell stars in the lead role. She is joined by Rish Shah, who plays Rhiannon’s romantic partner, and Tamsin Greig, who portrays AJ’s mother.
Additionally, the series sees the return of John Pointing, Nitin Ganatra, and Ingrid Oliver.
Sweetpea is based on the novel by C.J. Skuse. It is produced by ‘See-Saw Films’ and ‘Fanboy’, in association with ‘Isko Studios’.
The lead writers for Season 2 are Selina Lim and Simon Gillis. Natasha Heliotis serves as an executive producer, while Zorana Piggott is the series producer. They will work alongside a writing team that includes Anna Jordan and Laura Jane Tunbridge, with several other writers contributing to the episodes.
The series is set to launch on Starz in November 2017.
